How much does LeanLaw cost? Billing

LeanLaw’s Core plan is $55 per user per month and Pro is $75 per user per month, both month-to-month. Contingency and Elite are priced per firm. Every plan includes a 14-day trial, no credit card required, and a one-time onboarding fee may apply depending on your plan and firm size.

What decides your price

What moves the number from there comes down to how many users need a seat, which plan actually covers what your firm bills, and whether you commit to a term or stay month-to-month. Core includes time and expense tracking, e-payments, a reporting dashboard, trust accounting, professional invoices, and two-way QuickBooks Online sync — the full billing-and-trust loop most firms start with. Pro adds custom invoice templates, LEDES files, precise user permissions, and matter-based accounting, which matters if you bill insurance defense work, run multiple practice groups on different rate structures, or need to keep certain numbers away from certain desks. Contingency and Elite step outside per-seat pricing entirely because the work they cover — settlement handling, case profitability, compensation tracking, custom reporting — scales with case volume and complexity more than headcount. For the full breakdown of what sits in each tier, see Core vs. Pro vs. Elite.

Because LeanLaw is built on QuickBooks Online rather than a competing ledger, the subscription covers billing, time, and trust work specifically. The general ledger you already run in QuickBooks Online isn’t something you’re paying LeanLaw to duplicate, and it’s billed separately by Intuit on its own schedule.

Contingency and Elite work differently from the two published rates. Rather than multiplying a flat number by headcount, the quote reflects what a firm’s settlement, compensation, or custom-reporting needs actually look like, which is why neither tier carries a per-seat figure you can check against your own roster the way Core and Pro do.

A hypothetical example

Say a hypothetical five-user firm puts everyone on Core: five seats at $55 comes to $275 a month, before any onboarding fee. If two of those five need LEDES billing and matter-based accounting for an insurance-defense caseload, moving just those two to Pro brings the hypothetical total to $315 a month — $55 × 3 plus $75 × 2. Neither figure reflects an actual firm; it’s arithmetic on the published pricing, not a benchmark for what your firm should expect to pay.

What this depends on

  • How your firm counts a “user” for pricing purposes
  • Which plan features your billing and trust workflow actually requires
  • Whether your firm’s size or setup triggers an onboarding fee, and what that onboarding covers for you
  • Whether month-to-month suits your firm or a different billing cadence would

The next question worth asking goes beyond the sticker price to which plan’s included features match what your firm already needs to bill, track, and reconcile, because that’s what actually decides whether $55 or $75 is the real comparison — and whether Contingency or Elite belongs in the conversation at all.

What’s the cost? Core is $55 per user per month and Pro is $75, both month-to-month; Contingency and Elite are priced for the firm.

Tell me the price of LeanLaw. The published rate is per user, per month, with a 14-day trial and no credit card needed to start; a one-time onboarding fee may apply depending on your plan and firm size.
