LeanLaw has created an interactive mashup of American Bar Association (ABA) and the U.S. Census data to help you answer this question: How many lawyers are in the US (United States)?We decided to take it a step further and show you the trends of the answer to that question from 2010-2018 AND compare that to population statistics. This gives us the ability to answer these questions in a more meaningful way.
Our goal is to present an interactive map that helps you understand where all the lawyers are, how many there are per capita by state and the trends of those numbers, whether decreasing or increasing. We’ve compiled a few additional questions we had while we were working with this dataset too. Make sure to check those charts out below too!
There are a lot of reasons to want to understand where all the lawyers are – and how these areas are trending over the years: where to apply to law school, where to practice law once you’ve passed the bar, stuff like that.
This is just raw data – what we make of it as a community will hopefully expand our understanding in ways we haven’t yet realized.
